Description
Situated on the East Bank of Loch Lomond, in the beautiful Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park lies Dubh Loch Cottage (pronounced "doo"). A truly unique, traditional Scottish cottage built in the 1750's and fully refurbished and upgraded to a very high standard in 2007 by it's present owners. Dubh Loch sits in an enviable position with magnificent views from every window in an acre of gardens and woodland, complete with it's own burn running around the property.
Accommodation
3 bedrooms (1 king complete with full en-suite bath and shower, 1 double and 1 twin) to accommodate 6 people, cot and high chair available . 2nd full bathroom with free standing bath and separate shower. Sitting room/ dining room featuring original wooden beams with wood burning stove, 2nd sitting room, fully fitted kitchen (double oven, gas hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer). Solid oak floors, full gas central heating and double glazing, satellite TV, DVD, HI-FI. All linen/towels provided. Pets by arrangement. PLEASE NOTE NO SMOKING ALLOWED.
Grounds
Surrounded on all sides by woodland, Dubh Loch provides the perfect country retreat. To the front of the property lies the Dubh Loch (the dark loch), with Ben Dubh in the distance. To the rear of the cottage, a burn runs through the grounds providing a stunning view from the dining room. Take a walk through the woods or simply relax watching the wildlife (deer and birds of prey are frequently seen). If you're feeling particularly brave there is a 5 foot deep "plunge pool" at the base of the small waterfall in the burn! Large sweeping drive with plenty of parking. Large garden complete with all garden furniture for evening dining by the burn or watching the sunset over Ben Dubh. Gazebo, wood shed (all wood provided free) and lockable secure shed for bikes etc.
Surrounding countryside
Loch Lomond is one of Scotland's premier attractions offering peace, tranquility and the perfect escape at any time of year, yet within easy reach of Scotland's major cities (Glasgow 25 miles, Edinburgh 70 miles) and Stirling 35 miles. Enjoy watersports on Loch Lomond or stroll along it's unspoilt bays and beaches (Sallochy, one of the most beautiful bays is only a 5 minute walk from the cottage). Walk the famous West Highland Way which passes right around the Dubh Loch, climb Ben Lomond (3 miles away) or enjoy some spectacular cycling scenery. Nearby pubs and restaurants offer local produce and a welcome tipple. Close to some of Scotland's top golf courses.
Costs
The following price guide includes everything you will need for your stay. All linen/ towels, wood for the stove and welcome tray are provided. A 20% non-refundable deposit is required and the balance paid by 6 weeks prior to start of let. There is also a fully refundable "damage deposit". Pets are welcome by arrangement at a cost of £20.
During High Season the cottage will be available for weekly lets starting Saturday. During Low Season cottage will be available for short lets Friday - Monday and Monday - Friday (cost will be 70% of equivalent weekly rate)
High Season: 22 March 2008 - 2nd November 2008
Low Season: 2nd November 2008 - 28 March 2009 (except Christmas /New Year)
